The Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra’s collaboration with Kulturskolan

The Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra is passionate about giving children and young people the opportunity to discover symphonic music. Therefore, we collaborate with Kulturskolan’s Orchestra School/El Sistema Stockholm.

When you play in an orchestra, you not only make new friends and experience the joy of playing together, but you also learn how symphonic music is structured and what it means to collaborate with other musicians. Participating in classical music can also provide valuable insights into our living cultural history.

By playing music together with others, you develop sensitivity and the ability to adapt to a common rhythm and melody. Music is a form of communication that transcends age, language, and opinions – it's about creating something beautiful together.

Collaboration between Kulturskolan and Berwaldhallen

At Kulturskolan's Orchestra School, teachers from El Sistema Stockholm are present every week to help their students explore orchestral playing. Additionally, they receive support from the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, who not only share their love for orchestral music but also demonstrate what it means to have music as a profession. They act as mentors and role models for all young musicians!

Kulturskolan and Berwaldhallen work together to create more opportunities for students in the orchestra school. Musicians from the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Kulturskolan play together in rehearsals and concerts. The Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra also holds masterclasses where students get the chance to deepen their knowledge, ask questions, and receive tips from professional musicians.

These meetings take place both at Kulturskolan's locations in Kungsholmen, Bredäng, and Farsta, as well as at Berwaldhallen, where students also receive free tickets to concerts.

Whether you are a young musician looking to take your playing to the next level, or an adult wanting to support and inspire – join us and experience the magic of music!
