Swedish jazz giants meet at the legendary club Fasching. Vocal artist Sofia Jernberg together with Petter Eldh’s Post Koma and saxophonist Per “Texas” Johansson treat the audience to a set each, filled with cosmic excesses and world-class improvisations.

Act 1 / Sofia Jernberg & Post Koma

Petter Eldh is a versatile musician from Malmö whose influences range from jazz legends like Charles Mingus and Charlie Parker to hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest and soul star Aretha Franklin. He is involved in many exciting musical collaborations around Europe, and continues to release innovative projects with his bands ENEMY, Y-OTIS and POST KOMA.

Sofia Jernberg is the vocal artist who challenges everything we think we know about singing. Her musical universe moves freely between jazz, experimental art music and global folk traditions, where she seamlessly weaves together sounds from Ethiopia, Scandinavia and far beyond. With a voice that can be just as much an instrument as a storyteller, she creates soundscapes that hover between the airy and the raw, the meditative and the explosive.

Act 2 / Per Texas Johansson

Per Texas Johansson is a saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist whose idiosyncratic musical language stretches the boundaries of jazz. His music moves freely between chamber jazz, art music and free-form groove, where unexpected sound encounters and an outstanding ensemble playing create a hypnotic flow. From fragile clarinet to brittle bass clarinet and languid tenor sax – all with a sense of detail, rhythmic shifts and a never-ending exploration.

The music that will be played this evening comes from the album Den sämsta lösningen av alla (The worst possible solution).

The participating musicians have a long history of collaborations, but never before in this constellation. The music is composed specifically for the participants in the group, all profiled musicians and composers on the Swedish and international jazz, pop and improvisation scene. The idea is to highlight the participants’ strong individual voices and build on the unique instrumentation.
