Krista Audere conducts the Swedish Radio Choir
Krista Audere, winner of the Eric Ericsson Award conductor competition, returns to Berwaldhallen with a programme containing choir music in various vocal nuances. The The Renaissance composer Orlando di Lasso meets minimalistic contemporary tones as well as Ingvar Lidholm’s Canto LXXXI and 5 Ariel Songs by Frank Martin, both from the 1950s.

32 professional choristers make up the Swedish Radio Choir: a unique, dynamic instrument hailed by music-lovers and critics all over the world. The Swedish Radio Choir performs at Berwaldhallen, concert hall of the Swedish Radio, as well as on tours all over the country and the world. Also, they are heard regularly by millions of listeners on Swedish Radio P2, Berwaldhallen Play and globally through the EBU.
The award-winning Latvian conductor Kaspars Putniņš was appointed Chief Conductor of the Swedish Radio Choir in 2020. Since January 2019, its choirmaster is French orchestral and choral conductor Marc Korovitch, with responsibility for the choir’s vocal development.
The Swedish Radio Choir was founded in 1925, the same year as Sweden’s inaugural radio broadcasts, and gave its first concert in May that year. Multiple acclaimed and award-winning albums can be found in the choir’s record catalogue. Late 2023 saw the release of Kaspars Putniņš first album with the choir: Robert Schumann’s Missa sacra, recorded with organist Johan Hammarström.
Krista Audere is a Latvian conductor based in the Netherlands. She leads the VU-Kamerkoor and Kamerkoor Venus, and frequently guest conducts the Dutch Chamber Choir, Dutch Radio Choir, and Cappella Amsterdam. In 2024, she became the main subject teacher of Choral Conducting at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague and, in 2025, the first Principal Guest Conductor of the Swedish Radio Choir. In 2028, she will succeed Daniel Reuss as the artistic leader and chief conductor of Cappella Amsterdam.
Winner of the 2021 Eric Ericson Award, Krista has engagements in the 2024/25 season with several prestigious choirs, including the State Choir Latvia, Swedish Radio Choir, Spanish National Choir, Bavarian Radio Choir, Danish National Vocal Ensemble, Chamber Choir Ireland, Berlin Radio Choir, WDR Rundfunkchor Köln, and RIAS Kammerchor Berlin.
Krista graduated from Riga Dom Choir School and Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, later earning a Master’s degree cum laude from the Amsterdam University of the Arts. She has collaborated with the Latvian Radio Choir and Cappella Amsterdam as a singer and frequently serves as a jury member and masterclass instructor in choral conducting.

The pianist Behzod Abduraimov returns to Berwaldhallen, this time with Rachmaninov’s Paganini Variations. Also on the programme is Prokofiev’s fantastical seventh symphony played by the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra.
