Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloé

Maurice Ravel’s ballet Daphnis et Chloé is based on the antique myth about the shepherd Daphnis who loves Chloé and loses her when raiders roam the country, but she is saved with the help of the god Pan, and the lovers are reunited. Romanian conductor Cristian Măcelaru conducts the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra in this love story with a happy ending. Also on the programme, Elsa Barraine’s emotional second symphony and George Gershwin’s piano concerto in F-major with Rudolf Buchbinder.
